The Original Rainwater Pillow, a flexible horizontal rainwater storage system custom designed and installed under a deck at the Greenhaven home. This 3,600 gallon pillow is 15 feet x 11 feet x 3.4 feet and is connected to the landscape irrigation system. Rainwater is collected from the home’s roof as well as pervious surfaces. The water is filtered prior to entering the pillow using Leaf Eater filters and Graf in ground filters. A Davey Pressure pump is attached to the pillow to run the irrigation system

There are several advantages to using this type of rainwater harvesting system. The Original Rainwater Pillow is designed to utilize wasted horizontal space already in many homes ( crawl space or under decks or porches). Pillow sizes range from 1,000 to 40,000 gallons so large amounts of water can be stored out of sight and without the excavation costs of digging into the ground. The Original Rainwater Pillow is a fully encapsulated system. Mosquitoes can not breed because there is no air inside the pillow which is necessary for their life cycle. The Pillow material is a heavy duty three ply material (polyester scrim coated on both sides with an polymer alloy ). This is the same material the Military has been using for years to transport fuel. Tough and durable. All seams on the pillow are radio frequency welded. The black material will not allow any algae growth.

Rainwater harvesting provides an efficient use of a very valuable and finite resource. It is the very best remedy to reduce the dependence on municipal water supply. Collecting rainwater also reduces storm water run off, the number one pollutant of our rivers and streams. Rainwater collected and used on site recharges the ground water aquifer as well as eliminates the energy cost associated with moving water from another location. Natural rainwater is much cleaner than other water sources further reducing the required energy for treatment. Approximately only 30% of your daily water usage requires potable water.

The Original Rainwater Pillow has received certification as a Green Approved Product from The National Association Of Home Builders. The Original Rainwater Pillow system can provide 6 – 8 potential award points toward certification under the National Green Building Standard. Our product is the first Green Approved rainwater harvesting system.

The Original Rainwater Pillow is manufactured in The United States.
